Having spent the majority of her career tending uptown tresses at Frederick Fekkai, “I was looking for something closer to home, and with a different clientele…as well as smaller, more intimate environment,” says Amy of her move to Kennaland.
Originally from Saratoga Springs in upstate New York, she tried her hand at hairdressing straight out of high school, cutting her friends’ hair and loving it. Having learned the basics on the job at Fekkai, she’s since progressed rapidly, assisting some of the biggest names in hairdressing at New York Fashion Week, while also working on her own styling book.
Adept at creating all kinds of looks, “I will encourage my clients to try something new, but never force.”
And if her Brooklyn cliental still come in wanting the big uptown blow-outs sometimes, that’s fine with Amy too.
